culture schlock

i do not profess to have any actual knowledge on this.  if i happen across actual knowledge i shall note it and learn as i go along.  otherwise, this is just visceral gushings.

there's something about vintage fabrics. 

 for me it's mainly 50s ones that do it. but i'm not adverse to a little 30s, 40s, 60s or 70s fabric action either. 

the colour palettes were often muted, earthy, yet still vibrant. 

 the patterns drawing from the floral, 'primativism' or 'oceanic' arts, cubism and other abstract arts. 

 illustration and cuteness was also often the order of the day.
