your questions answered

Dr! I have inquiries!

Why are "Warm and Fuzzies" fuzzie? What are warm and fuzzies, anyway?

Thanks, Dr.,

Thank you for your Query, the curious unwashed.

Those who are tactile-inclined will of course tell you that with fuzziness, follows warmth, and often vice versa.  You only have to look at a good sweater (or 'jumper' as we say over here) to know the logic of this.  Or a particularly friendly puddy cat.  Also do you not know that 'fuzzy' feeling you get when experiencing something pleasing and warm?  This is akin to cuddling up to someone's 'fuzzy' and experiencing the warmth produced therein.

lastly, unwashed, for a deeper understanding of the origin and explanation of 'warm and fuzzies', it may interest you to read this news item

The Dr. hopes this has been of interest.

Very useful, Doctor, and a curious story too. It is odd how to feel 'fuzzy' has become a good thing seeing as fuzzy actually means something that is 'unclear or distored,' and is also a English slang word for the cops... who, let's face it, can be anything but warm of fuzzy.
